"There is no hope.  No one can help me.  You don't want a person like me around."

Those were the words of "S", when she came to Proverbs 31:20 Ministries for support in October 2005.  A single mom, doing her best to support her children without DSHS, found herself exhausted.  Certain that her past was a mountain that separated her from those who would really care, she wanted to give up.  The patterns that she had become accustomed to were like cement around her feet. 

At first, she was resistant to the suggestions to change her lifestyle, "Give up the clubs and the guys that hang out there.  Follow the commands of the Lord."  Years of hurt and betrayal made it easy for her to question if God could really change her situation. 

With reservation, she agreed to meet in a small discipleship group.  There she received regular encouragement and reminders of the goodness of God.  She heard testimony of His faithfulness in the lives of the women that met with her.  She began attending church regularly and recommitted her life to Jesus Christ.  She saw that God's love for her was genuine.  Therefore, she submitted herself unto Him.

Nearly a year later, the Lord has provided for her financially, emotionally, and spiritually.  She no longer clings to anxiety; she has found the Lover of her soul and knows that He will always take care of her.
